Introduction to Puppetry with Household Objects

Description: This two-part class offers students the basics of puppetry with household objects focusing primarily on object table top manipulation. The first class will explore the fundamentals of puppetry through a series of explorations using movement and narrative exercises. Bio: Alexandra Montagnese is a Dora nominated actor, puppeteer, and theatre creator. She is a founding member and curator of Toronto’s experimental puppetry cabaret: Concrete Cabaret. Alex has taught at York University, Shakespeare in Action, Leahurst College, Watermark Theatre, Branksome Hall, the Akiva School, and many online and in person camps and workshops. In 2022, she will be performing her puppet show A Short History of Niagara, which she created with Mike Petersen at the Shaw Festival.
